Walking the straight and narrow road isn’t as hard as you think. It isn’t about the things you give up in order to live in right standing with me. It’s about staying close to me so you don’t veer from the path. It’s about fixing your heart on me and learning to submit every aspect of your life to me, moment by moment. When your thoughts and silent musings cause you to drift away from the knowledge of my presence, it’s easy to trip.
It’s vital that you pay attention to the checks in your spirit—those subtle warnings that I give you. Many times, you have dismissed them as your own thoughts, but they are me letting you know not to do something or go in a different direction than I have planned for you.
Everyone has their own journey, their own relationship with me. Don’t judge what others do when I’ve asked you not to do it. And don’t expect others to do the things I’ve asked you to do. Be careful to guard your heart at all times. Keep your eyes fixed on me. This is our moment-to-moment walk.
John 15:5 (The Passion Version)
“I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless”
Whispers written by Brian Simmons and Gretchen Rodriguez
